SEOUL, Korea (WKBL): Less than a week after they were involved in an entraining Overtime battle, defending WKBL champions Shinhan Bank S-Birds and KB Stars were on Thursday involved in another intense and evenly matched battle which too went into Overtime.
This time again S-Birds who had won the Sunday’s Overtime encounter 83-77 emerged victorious having fought back in the fourth quarter to take the issue into extended Overtime. S-Birds won 88-85.
A 20-16 rally in the final ten minutes brought S-Birds on par at 75 at the end of regulation time before the defending champions managed an advantage in the Overtime.
Veteran center Kang Young-suk was the leader of S-Birds cause, which had five players scoring in the double digits.
Kang returned a double-double pulling down a game-high dozen rebounds to go with her 23 points and giant center Ha Eun-joo had 20 points and 7 rebounds.
Choi Youn-Ah, who was an All Star at the 24th FIBA Asia Championship for Women at Omura in August, where Korea won the silver medal, dished out 7 assists along with pulling down as many rebounds and scoring 12 points.
Kim Danbi had 13 points and Lee Youn-Hoa, S-Birds’ savior in Sunday’s win, had 16 points and half as many rebounds.
