THE Perth Wildcats will be vying for the Cattalini Cup when they take on the Adelaide 36ers at Challenge Stadium on Sunday.
Cattalini won championships with Perth in 1995 and 2009-10 and with Adelaide in 1998 and 1999. He also represented Australia at the Sydney and Athens Olympics. The 38-year-old said it felt “a bit weird” having a trophy named in his honour.“It is a fantastic honour to be recognised in that way and it's something that I am very proud of, and I feel fortunate to have the cup named after me," Cattalini said.
"I certainly do feel very retired and am happy to be retired, but no doubt when you have something like this named after you it enforces that you definitely are retired. I definitely don’t miss the training and all that sort of stuff, so I'm very happy to be retired."Cattalini was also glad to also be sharing the new tradition with his long-time friend and former Australian teammate Rogers.Sunday’s game will also provide a rare opportunity for the pair the chance to catch-up, with Cattalini now living in Adelaide and Rogers in the south-west of WA.-http://www.perthnow.com.au
