Atlanta Dream Name Fred Williams Head Coach and General Manager

ATLANTA, Aug. 27, 2012 -- The Atlanta Dream announced today that Fred Williams has been named Head Coach and General Manager, effective immediately. Coach Williams has served as Assistant Coach for the Dream for four years, and brings extensive coaching and scouting experience in the WNBA, NBA and the NCAA. Coach Williams replaces former Head Coach and General Manager Marynell Meadors. Joe Ciampi continues in his first year as Assistant Coach.

"As a team, we are unified in our drive to build on what we've achieved in our first five years," said Williams. "We want to acknowledge the strong contribution that Marynell Meadors made to this organization. Our franchise will continue to build on the tradition of speed, scoring and tough defense that has resulted in back-to-back Eastern Conference championships."

"Coach Williams bring a wealth of experience, a strong sense of teamwork, and demonstrated commitment to the role of Head Coach and General Manager," said Atlanta Dream Co-owners Mary Brock and Kelly Loeffler. "We have tremendous respect for her contribution to this sport and wish Coach Meadors the very best in her future endeavors."

New Orleans Hornets sign Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers – NBA News Roundup

New Orleans Hornets sign Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers, New York Knicks add South American flavour, Wizards bring in A.J. Price while Boston Celtics re-sign Keyon Dooling
New Orleans Hornets sign Anthony Davis and Austin Rivers – NBA News RoundupAnthony Davis and Austin Rivers sign rookie contracts with New Orleans Hornets
In what was the best possible night for the New Orleans Hornets in recent times, the franchise landed two top ten picks on June 28 in the NBA draft. They acquired Anthony Davis with the number one selection and chose to pick Austin Rivers with their number 10 pick.
Almost a month after draft night, both first round choices have signed their rookie contracts with the Hornets. The details of the both contracts have been outlined by NBA’s collective bargaining agreement. Both Davis and Rivers are guaranteed three seasons; with the number one selection getting the total income of about $16 million while Rivers has secured $5.9 million.
The second round selection and Kentucky team mate of Davis, Darius Miller is yet to negotiate his contract.
New York Knicks sign Pablo Prigioni
In order to fill up the back court void left after the departure of Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks have included quite a few options. The latest signing made in that department has been of Argentinean point guard Pablo Prigioni. The details of the agreement have not been revealed yet but the Argentinean is set to take on the bench role behind Jason Kidd and starting point guard Raymond Felton.
Washington Wizards secure the signature of A.J. Price
As part of the rebuilding plan, another change taking place in the Washington Wizards roster is the addition of A.J. Price who comes in as a free agent. According to club president Ernie Grunfeld, Price has been brought in to play back-up to John Wall.
A second round draft pick from 2009, Price had spent his first three years playing for the Indiana Pacers. He held an average of 6 points, 2 assists and 1.5 rebounds over the course of three seasons during which he managed to take part in 150 games.
Boston Celtics re-sign Keyon Dooling
The Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with Keyon Dooling to come back for next season. In a deal highly beneficial for the Boston franchise, Dooling will be coming in on a veteran’s exception.
Even though Dooling did not receive much playing time last season and no significant change in his playing minutes is expected with the arrival of Jason Terry and Courtney Lee as well. However he is excited to be back in Boston – a fact confirmed by his agent.
“He’s excited to be back,” said, Kenge Stevenson (Dooling’s agent). “He loves Doc (Rivers), his teammates. It’s a good situation for him.”

NBA NEWS | 12bet

The National Basketball Association became the first major sports league in the world to top 5 million Twitter followers on Monday morning. And no other league is even close.

The next most popular sports organization, the NFL, clocks in around 3.3 million followers. Major League Baseball has just over 2 million, while the National Hockey League and World Wrestling Entertainment have about 1.1 million each. World soccer's governing body, FIFA, has almost 800,000 followers.

The NBA has long been at the forefront of using social media in the sports business world. Fans used Twitter to vote for this year's Slam Dunk Contest winner, and in March the league began selling t-shirts featuring star players' Twitter handles. Last month, it marked the beginning of playoff season by official launching Pinterest and Tumblr pages.
More than 350 current and former NBA players are on Twitter. Counting official league, team and player profiles, the league claims more than 260 million combined Facebook likes and Twitter follows.

Bulls vs. 76ers

DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- It seemed almost unthinkable that the Chicago Bulls could be in this spot.

Yet here they are, trailing the Philadelphia 76ers 3-1 in the first round and trying to avoid elimination as they return home for Game 5 on Tuesday night.

If the Bulls lose, they will be just the fifth No. 1 seed to fall to an eighth seed. It would also give Philadelphia its first series victory since 2003, a scenario few envisioned when the postseason started.

"It's been a crazy year from beginning to right now," guard Richard Hamilton said Monday. "We know that."

They also realize it'll take a wild comeback for them to advance, particularly given their injuries. They lost Derrick Rose for the remainder of the season to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee late in the series opener, and center Joakim Noah will likely sit out his second straight game because of a sprained left ankle, leaving them without two of their leaders.

Washington Wizards vs L.A. Lakers match preview

In a losing cause, Andrew Bynum shone for the Lakers, scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds, while Pau Gasol added 20 points and 10 rebounds, but Kobe Bryant struggled towards his 22 points on eight of 26 shooting. The Lakers are now just 6-13 on the road and have won just three of their last nine games away from the Staples Center. The Lakers have been terrible on the road all season, but the Wizards have been terrible no matter where they play. I don’t want to pick the Lakers to cover in this game simply because of the Wizards woes, but I just can’t see the Lakers dropping this game after their painful loss against the Pistons last night.
Meanwhile, the Wizards have lost seven of their last eight games and are coming off a 120-100 loss to the Warriors in their last outing. John Wall had strong outing with 20 points and 14 assists, while Nick Young had 25 points off the bench, but you’re never going to beat the Warriors if you allow them to shoot 54.2 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from the land of plenty. The Wizards have the ability to put up some nice numbers, but the problem has been their lack of attitude and effort.

Cleveland Cavaliers Vs Utah Jazz match preview

After winning back-to-back home contests over Houston and Miami, Utah (17-19) opened a season-high five-game trip with a 102-96 loss to Dallas on Saturday. Paul Millsap had 24 points and shot 11 of 17 for the Jazz, who trailed by as much as 23 in falling to 3-13 away from home. That has been an ongoing problem on the road for Utah, which is allowing an average of 103.4 points and 41.8 percent shooting from 3-point range in its last five.

A trip to Cleveland, however, might be what Utah needs to end its slide. With a 113-105 victory over the Cavaliers on Jan. 10, the Jazz won their fourth straight in the series. Al Jefferson, averaging team highs of 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds, had 30 points and 12 boards while Millsap made his first nine field-goal attempts and finished with 19 points. The Cavaliers have been experiencing their own problems lately, suffering through their longest skid since last season's NBA-record 26-game losing streak.

Toronto Raptors VS Sacramento Kings 12BET tips NBA 1/12 8AM GMT+8

The Sacramento Kings are still seeking their first road win of the season.

Toronto may not be the easiest place for them to get it.

The Kings attempt to bounce back from one of their worst performances of the season and beat the Raptors on the road for the first time in nearly eight years Wednesday night.

Sacramento (3-7) has lost all four of its road games, averaging 85.8 points while surrendering 109.0 per game. It was more of the same for the Kings in the opener of their five-game trip Tuesday at Philadelphia, as they shot 39.5 percent from the floor en route to a 112-85 rout.

A visit to Toronto (4-6) wouldn't appear to be the ideal way to end the road skid since Sacramento hasn't won there since Feb. 22, 2004. The Kings have dropped seven straight at Air Canada Centre since, giving up a whopping average of 111.9 points.

They lost 118-112 in their last visit to Canada on Jan. 9, 2011.

Making the task tougher for Sacramento, leading scorer Marcus Thornton (18.7 ppg) may miss a second consecutive game due to a thigh injury. Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette got his first career start Tuesday in Thornton's place, finishing with seven points, three assists and three turnovers.

"We didn't have our regular rotation so the other guys had to make adjustments," coach Keith Smart said.

Sacramento may have at least some reason for optimism after the Raptors fell 93-78 at Washington on Tuesday, losing to what had been the last remaining winless team in the NBA.

They missed 16 of 20 3-point attempts against the Wizards and committed a season-high 23 turnovers - nine more than their previous average.

"Our disposition wasn't good coming out of the locker room to begin the game," said Toronto coach Dwane Casey, whose team must now play its third game in as many days. "You start turning the ball over and you can't recover from that and you can't get set up in your defense."

Andrea Bargnani led the Raptors with 22 points and continues to be one of the few bright spots for Toronto, averaging a team-high 23.5 points - nearly nine more than DeMar DeRozan - the team's second-highest scorer.

Bargnani has come up big in the Raptors; two home victories, scoring 31 points each time while totaling 16 boards.

He's averaging 25.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in Toronto's last three home meetings with the Kings, including 30 points while shooting 12 of 19 in last season's victory.

DeRozan had 28 points in that contest. He's totaled just 31 in his last four games after scoring 11 and missing 12 of 16 shots Tuesday. - http://www.vegasinsider.com

L.A. Lakers VS Houston Rockets 12 BET preview NBA BASKETBALL: 11:30AM GMT+8

Second bet from NBA is from a meeting between two teams from Western Conference, LA Lakers and Houston Rockets a meeting that has home side the favorite to win by more then 3.5 points difference.
Note Lakers won 3 from 4 matches played at home and the lost was on last seconds against Chicago Bulls, 87-88.

Houston on the other hand played with 2 matches fewer and had a day off so are more rested and for sure with a better moral aft won against one of the most inform team, Atlanta with 95-84.
Plus last match played at home by Lakers against Houston was won by Houston after overtime with 114:106 so we can say that Kobe and the rest of the team has something to look for tonight but with the guests allowing on both matches played away from home more then 100 points I see that is a decent bet to back Lakers to win by more then 3.5 points difference because have a decent defensive as managed so far to limit at home their opponents to under 90 points. - http://www.bettingexpert.com

The 2011 NBA preseason came to a close tonight with just two games on the schedule. Here's a quick recap of the games:

Denver Nuggets 110, Phoenix Suns 85: The Nuggets took an early lead against the Suns, outscoring them in the first half 52-50, even with the Suns 34 point rally of a second quarter. The Nuggets pulled away in the second half to the 110-85 victory. Danilo Gallinari led the way for the Nuggets, putting up 23 points with six rebounds. Center Kosta Koufos also picked up 15 points with 11 boards. Corey Brewer also picked up 20 points off the bench. Sportsbetting WNBA Basketball Atlanta Dream vs Minnesota Lynx 10/8 8AM GMT+8 12BET

The 2009 WNBA Finals was widely considered the best WNBA Finals ever due to a combination of drama, an underdog pushing a favorite to the limit, and the traction it gained in the mainstream.
On the court, a lot of what made that series exciting was the contrast in styles: just to draw on the basic storyline, 2009 MVP Diana Taurasi and league-leading scorer led the Phoenix Mercury against 2009 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Tamika Catchings and the Indiana Fever's top-ranked defense.
The 2011 WNBA Finals won't provide nearly that same type of contrast, but should be extremely exciting in its own right.
While Minnesota was both the second ranked defense and offense during the regular season, Atlanta has made dramatic improvement over the course of the season and been the stingiest defense in the playoffs and second-ranked offense. In further contrast to 2009, 2011 doesn't showcase the uptempo (Mercury) vs. downtempo (Fever) matchup that we saw in 2009 either - both of these teams like to run and thrive in transition finishing second (Atlanta) and third (Minnesota) in the regular season in fast break points.

Asian Handicap Bundesliga Telekom Baskets Bonn vs FC Bayern Munchen 12BET 8:05PM 10/3 GMT+8

The Basketball Bundesliga— commonly abbreviated BBL — is the highest level league of club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage and the teams positioned 17th and 18th are relegated to a lower league. The playoffs are played in "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are the German Champions of that season.

Additionally to the league competition, all BBL teams compete for the German Cup (BBL-Cup). Teams playing in the second league (Pro A or Pro B) or in a lower Regionalliga are also eligible to participate. Always 3 knock-out rounds are played for the BBL-Cup. If more teams of the leagues below the BBL apply for participation than available places, additional qualification rounds are added for them. The final four remaining teams determine the rankings for bronze, silver and gold medals in knock-out matches termed the BBL-TOP4. The gold winning team is the German Cup winner.

Asian Handicap WNBA Basketball (Final) Minnesota Lynx vs Atlanta Dream 12BET 10/3 8:30AM GMT+8

The WNBA Finals have turned into a matchup of (a) the team (Minnesota) that played the best basketball in the league all season; and (b) the team (Atlanta) that played the best basketball in the league in the final month.
Minnesota has earned a spot in the WNBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. The Lynx had never won a playoff series before coming into this postseason run. Atlanta is making its second straight trip to the WNBA Finals after getting swept last season by Seattle. The way Seattle dominated the league in 2010 is not unlike what the Lynx have done this year. Minnesota won more games than any other team, was strong both at home and on the road and has a bevy of ways to hurt the opponent, from the scoring of Seimone Augustus (averaging 20.4 points per game in the postseason), to the gritty play of point guard Lindsay Whalen, to the steady leadership of Taj McWilliams-Franklin to the explosive post play of Rebekkah Brunson. And then there's the small matter of Minnesota's strong, disciplined defensive play, among the best in the league all season.

So, for the second season in a row, Atlanta will be trying to slay the league's giant.
The Dream came into the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, but it should surprise no one that they are here, considering the way they have played over the past six weeks. After a 3-9 start attributable to injuries and absences, the Dream put it together in a big way behind third-year forward Angel McCoughtry. The Dream have lost just three games since Aug. 13 and haven't lost two straight since early July.
