Lebanon vs Chinese Taipei FIBA 10/24 12PM GMT+8

Day Three Review: 2nd FIBA Asia U16 Championship

NHA TRANG CITY, Vietnam : India played some vibrant basketball to beat fancied Chinese Taipei and Lebanon adopted a vivacious approach to overcome an equally spirited fellow WABA team Iraq on Thursday as East Asian trio China, Japan, Korea along with SEABA’s Philippines all took unbeaten records into the Second Round.
If in terms of not only the result, but also the manner in which 73-52 win was achieved by India was refreshingly surprising, the manner in which Lebanon overturned a first quarter into a 75-68 triumph was equally stimulating.
India and Lebanon will start their Group E engagements on equal footing with a 1-1 record, while Taipei and Iraq will have to start from the scratch when the Second Round starts on Saturday after Friday’s rest day.
China overwhelmed Malaysia 91-30 and Korea routed Uzbekistan 120-29 to carry forward a 2-0 record into Group E and the clash between the two on Monday is already being touted as a dress-rehearsal for the title game itself.
Group F will see Japan who brought the curtains down on the Preliminary Round with a confident and composed 119-55 win against Qatar and Philippines who just did what was necessary and carved out a 111-25 win against hosts Vietnam.
Qatar and Vietnam, who start 0-2, will be joined by Saudi Arabia who were handed the third “win” by forfeit by the truant Iran and Indonesia, who enjoyed an extra rest day. Saudi Arabia and Indonesia start the Second Round 1-1.- by http://www.fibaasia.net
