EPL Sports News: Ex-England Defender Sol Campbell Wants Points Deductions as Punishment against Racism

Update yourself with the latest sports news in international football and bet on your favourites at 12BET.com now!

THE LATEST SPORTS NEWS – Sol Campbell, a former defender for the England national team, said that UEFA must act on racism through using points deductions as punishment.

Campbell made the statement in light of the racism incident in a match between Serbia and England Under-21s at Krusevac. As England played past through rival Serbia 1-0, racist chants began to pour from the host side. As a result, UEFA charged the Serbian FA due to racist abuse from fans and the England FA due to the players’ improper conduct.

Saying that “knocking six, nine points off” will serve as a wake-up call for national teams, Campbell was firm in his call to end racism in football. He believes that preventing national teams to qualify is an effective way to end racist abuse and prevent the incident in Krusevac from happening again.

Sports Bet News: NBA 2012-13 News: Rajon Rondo Hails Celtics Squad despite Ray Allen’s Heat Transfer

THE LATEST NBA 2012-2013 UPDATE – Rajon Rondo, starting point guard for the Boston Celtics, believes that his team has a much more formidable force than before.

In his Twitter account, Rondo praised his team by saying “…We have a lot of talented guys – the most talent we’ve had since I’ve been with the Celtics”. They have played past through rival teams in the 2012 Finals, only to be edged out of the Eastern Finals by eventual champions Miami Heat.

Most pundits argue that the roster formed by Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Kevin Johnson and Larry Bird was the Celtics’ most powerful of all time. Rondo dispelled fears of a weakened squad due to Allen’s departure, pointing Courtney Lee as a formidable and better replacement in defence.

Point and shooting guard Jason Terry, known for his strong mind-set of winning the championship is a formidable member of the current Celtics squad. Power forward Jason Sullinger is another force to reckon after he scored 16 points and eight rebounds in his first preseason with the team.

MILAN (AP) — Rajon Rondo scored all 17 of his points in the first quarter and added six assists to lead the Boston Celtics to a 105-75 win over Emporio Armani Milano on Sunday, two days after the NBA team opened its preseason European tour with a loss in Turkey.

Jeff Green also had 17 points off the bench for Boston. Green missed all of last season after a physical exam revealed an aortic aneurysm. He underwent surgery and became a free agent before re-signing with the Celtics in August.

On Friday in Istanbul, Fenerbahce Ulker beat the Celtics 97-91. The Celtics return to Boston on Monday and resume practice on Thursday before playing their first U.S. preseason game against the New York Knicks in Hartford, Connecticut, next weekend.
