Derrick Rose lands potential $200M shoe deal

Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose has secured one of the richest shoe endorsement deals in history, a package that could pay him more than $200 million across the remainder of his career, a source told Yahoo! Sports.

Rose, the 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player, agreed to a 13-year deal to stay with Adidas that guarantees him $185 million. The deal includes incentives that could push the deal to more than $200 million, a source said.Rose signed the deal on Friday in Orlando, Fla., where he will play in Sunday’s NBA All-Star game as a starter for the Eastern Conference.

Yahoo! Sports had reported in December that Adidas and Rose were working on a “lifetime” deal, and that’s what this could turn into for Rose. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft and became the youngest player in history to be voted an MVP at 22 years old in 2011. Rose is expected to be a part of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team that will compete in the London.

Rose has missed 10 of the Bulls’ 35 games this season with a combination of back and toe injuries. He’s averaging 21.8 points and 7.7 assists for the Bulls, who hold the East’s second-best record at 27-8.Before the season, Rose signed a five-year, $94.8 million maximum contract extension with the Bulls. - http://sports.yahoo.com/
