Ajax captain Siem de Jong lifted his
side with two early goals made in the space of seven exhilarating minutes. Yaya
Toure redeemed City with a goal in the middle of the first half and Sergio
Aguero levelled with a nerve-breaking 74th-minute goal.
Aguero added a second goal for City
but officials eventually ruled it offside. Manager Roberto Mancini argued with
match officials over the controversial decision, saying that his side failed to
clinch victory due to the “wrong decision”.
